Study at the Faculty of Agromediterranean

The pandemic, caused by the CORONA virus (Covid-19), which we have all witnessed in recent months, has shown once again what most people from the economic sector of each country know very well, and that is the necessity of domestic production.

The appearance of one "small, invisible" organism was enough for all the borders to be closed overnight and for the whole "world to stop".

How did people around the world react at the beginning of the pandemic?

So we all, by inertia, rushed to the shops and big malls.

What did we buy?

We didn't buy shoes, dresses or coats ... we didn't buy new cars or new apartments or houses ...

We bought food, large, and often unnecessarily large quantities, flour, oil, sugar .....

Of course, because without all of the above (clothes, shoes, cars, houses, luxury apartments) we can continue living, all of the above has an alternative, it has a replacement. The only thing that has no alternative or substitute is food.

For the human body to function normally, all of us, whether men or women, children or the elderly, be white, yellow or dark skinned, be doctors, masons, lawyers, car mechanics, economists, engineers of various profiles ...., we must all that we take in food at least three times a day, and nutritionists have been saying lately that it is five times a day.

So, in normal situations, as well as in emergencies, there is a constant and guaranteed market for food. Especially domestic products that we know where they come from and what are the qualities, and which is usually always better, safer and healthier than any imported products for which we often do not know the origin, method of production, mode of transport and everything else that can affect of product quality.

The importance of domestic production is also evidenced by the decision of the FBiH Government, which was made at the end of March this year, to set aside 9 million KM for spring sowing in the FBiH, instead of the usual, 500,000 KM and allocate it to agricultural producers. It is also recommended to all levels of government to allocate land to anyone interested in food production without any fees (https://www.biznisinfo.ba/jos-devet-miliona-km-za-podrsku-pol poljoprivredi-u-fbih/, https://bhrt.ba/1132128/za-proljetnu-sjetvu-obezbijedeno-devet-i-po-miliona-km/, https://www.agroklub.ba/financiranje/za-podrsku-agraru-obezbjedeno-jos -9-million-km / 59251 /)

It has long been said and it is a well-known fact that only countries that can feed their own population are truly independent countries.

How to produce high quality fruits, vegetables, vines, flowers?

How to produce food ecologically correctly?

What is the nutritional value of these products?

How to preserve products from various contaminants and preserve their health?

How to technologically process food and preserve its quality?

How to place these products on the market, how to advertise them?

How to establish a family farm (family farm) and how to invest wisely and safely in agricultural production?

These are just some of the questions you will get answers to if you become a student at the Faculty of Agromediterranean, Džemal Bijedić University in Mostar.
