Urban agriculture is a model that refers to the cultivation, processing and distribution of food in, or in the immediate vicinity of populated areas. The main characteristic of urban agriculture is the local production of food for local use - a concept that ensures: employment of the population, cultivation of urban and suburban areas, more food and healthier nutrition, increasing economic power of the city and residents, stronger ties between residents. A typical way of production in urban agriculture is the bio-intensive method - which produces large amounts of organic food on limited areas.
